Photos from Texas Day 6 and 7

The last two days in Texas were intentionally very mellow. I hate the feeling of being exhausted and feeling like you need a vacation when you get back from a vacation.

Our flight left San Antonio at 6AM on Tuesday morning so we spent the last two days relaxing by the pool. It was a great way to end our trip to Texas.

Monday night the weather took a turn for the worse. There were bad thunder storms and a tornado touched down not too far from us. There was lots of flooding and things got a little scary.

It was a great trip and a much needed vacation. I cant wait to go back.

Few things i learned about Texas: Southern hospitality exists and it is awesome. Everything moves at a slower pace, life is lived very casually in a good way. Bingo is stressful. Enforcement of drinking laws are lax. People love Jesus. Thunder is extremely loud. The hills have eyes. Texas is awesome.

Photos from Texas Day 5

The Fifth day of our vacation started with a hangover, never a fun way to start a day, but worth it. It was going to be a long day. There was a "shoot out" in Bandera we wanted to see but were late and missed it, bummer.

The plan for the rest of the day was to run some errands and go racing that night. The Race track was an hour and half from where we were staying. The races started at 7 but we got there at 5. We waited in the car and did some tail gating till it was time to go in.

It was the first race of the season and both Dale and Chuck, Crystal's step dad and uncle, were pretty anxious. Chuck is the driver and Dale is the pit crew. They both raced in Minnesota when they lived there but this was the first time racing in Texas.

Chuck didnt do as well as they had hoped, but they didnt crash and the car made it through the night, which is all that matters. It was surprisingly fun.

Photos from Texas Day 4

The Fourth day of our vacation was pretty much the opposite of day Three. We were busy all day, sometimes being on vacation is exhausting.

The first stop of the day was The Museum of Western Art, which was kinda cool. The architecture was the most interesting aspect of the museum, I didn't care much for the painting and sculpture. I got yelled at for taking photos by an overly friendly tour guide, i always get yelled at in museums.

The rest of the afternoon was spent thrifting and shopping in Bandera. We went to some clothing shops, a BBQ restaurant, a Wine and Cheese restaurant, a souvenir shop, and the local bar "11th Street". It was a lot of shopping for one day.

That night we went to meet Crystal's Aunt and Uncle at their house but they werent home from racing yet. Crystals Uncle races "Modified A" Cars on dirt tracks. Her step dad and uncle were at the track practicing for the race on Saturday.

The evening ended with us at the "Canteena Bar" they had good bar food and cheep beers. I won Crystal Two stuffed animals out of the drop claw vending machines. It was a nice way to end a long day.
